Anyone who visits Tilburg will immediately see: this is a city in motion. Creative breeding grounds and sustainable neighborhoods are emerging. But beneath all that innovation, the same heart still beats. Tilburg's DNA is not set in concrete, but lives - in the people, the places, the stories.

Big words

Tilburg is a city that you will not quickly describe with big words. Here the rule is: no talking, just action. That down-to-earth mentality stems from the rich industrial history – when textile workers, spinners and weavers made the city great. That work ethic has remained, as has the modest pride. Tilburgers are doers. They believe in cooperation, in putting their shoulders to the wheel together. Whether it concerns setting up a cultural festival, repurposing industrial heritage or coming up with a new way of living together: in Tilburg it happens together.

Space to grow

But make no mistake – behind that no-nonsense attitude lies a city full of creativity and courage. Art and culture are not a backdrop here, but a driving force. Think of the international allure of Museum De Pont, Tilburg, the TextielMuseum, or the raw, innovative character of festivals such as Roadburn and Draaimolen. Tilburg is a place where you can try, where failure is no disgrace and where ideas are given space to grow. That is why we won the title of event city of the year in 2024.

A city that listens

That openness may well be Tilburg’s greatest strength. It is a city that does not pre-construct everything, but instead offers space – for people, ideas, initiatives. For those who dare to think big, but want to start small. For those who seek connection, but want to remain themselves.
Tilburg may not be the city that shouts the loudest. But if you look closely, you will see a city that listens. That invites. That wants to move forward, without forgetting its past.
