Dance meets architecture in Blind Spot. During a city walk with headphones, choreographer Jelena Kostić lets the audience see Tilburg with fresh eyes. Blind Spot was a great success in 2021, and editions in Maastricht, Rotterdam and Eindhoven followed. Now Blind Spot, in collaboration with Fontys Academy of the Arts, returns once again to the place where it all began: Tilburg.
In 2020, as people disappeared from the streets and life turned upside down, Jelena began to see her hometown of Tilburg with new eyes. What struck her was the multitude of expressive architecture. The shapes, the play of lines, and the untold stories of the city and its buildings. All things we overlook in everyday life, but which can be made visible and tangible with dance.
During Blind Spot, visitors with headphones take a walk through the city center, starting at Theater De Nieuwe Vorst and ending at the Canton Court. A voice leads visitors past five different locations, where dancers enter into dialogue with striking buildings. They embody the stories and emotions hidden behind the bricks, exploring the relationship between man and his environment.
