Fighting spirit and lust for painting
Galerie De Roos and Laila Hassouna-Jansen invite you to the January 2025 exhibition “Fighting lust, painting lust. Queer, Dutch-Egyptian painter, writer, lawyer, activist, Laila Hassouna-Jansen is exhibiting at Galerie De Roos on the Veldhovenring in Tilburg. The theme of the work she painted in the past year and a half is emancipation. Inspired by the dominant color in the Barbie movie, pink is the color of this exhibition.
A celebration of color and thick oil paint
Laila celebrates the women who fought for equality during the most difficult times. Women like Virginia Woolf, Simone de Beauvoir and Eleonor Roosevelt. And women of our time like Egyptian Sarah Hegazi. The exhibition is a celebration of color and thick oil paint. The fighting spirit and zest for painting are unmistakable.
The opening of this exhibition will be on Sunday, January 5, 2025 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. After that, the Gallery will be open every Saturday and Sunday afternoon through January 26 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
