Heyhoef-Backstage brings another very special female blues icon to Tilburg: ‘An Irish blues singer with real integrity’ - this is how Sunday Times describes Grainne Duffy after her remarkable debut album Out Of The Dark, which led her to the Glastonbury festival stage.

But recent years prove that the famed Irish guitarist, singer and songwriter goes far beyond exploring the deep blues - as history, while she did her PhD on early blues vocalists, beahllade her PhD and musically released two albums mixing the roots of the blues. Blues with contemporary sounds, phrases and her native Irish soul providing beautiful Celtic lines. A very special and original combination. In June 2023, Grainne Duffy's new album ‘Dirt Woman Blues’ will be nominated for the annual Blues Blast Music Awards 2023 - ‘best blues-rock album’.

In our support acts, we also like to offer local bands our stage to present themselves. Often new young talents from the region, but sometimes also some old hands in the business. This time, we have the formation Chicago Junkies on stage with regional blues luminaries Marc Bocken and Willem van der Schoof in the ranks.
