Jonathan Fournel

A highlight of his career was winning first prize at the Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition in 2021. Fournel, who started playing the piano at an early age, refined his talent at the Conservatoire de Paris. His musical interpretations are characterised by deep emotion and a thoughtful approach, paying attention to the finest nuances of each composition.

A varied programme

On 25 February, Fournel demonstrates his versatility and artistic depth with a varied programme. He opens with Bach's Concerto Italien BWV 971, a work full of technical challenges and expressive richness. He then performs Brahms' Trois Intermezzi opus 117, a collection of subtle and emotionally charged pieces. He then leads the audience through Szymanowski's Variations on a Polish Theme opus 10, a phenomenal rendering of Polish musical themes. The evening ends with Liszt's impressive Sonata in B minor.
