What would you get if you mixed Frank Zappa and Remco Campert together? Or Talking Heads and Jules Deelder? Miles Davis and Simon Vinkenoog? Exactly: Kruidkoek and Joost Oomen. In their new performance Liefde in tijden van hopjesvla, they once again serve up a sparkling cocktail of poetry and muscle jazz. Their mission? Immerse the audience in a bath of merriment, absurdism and - who knows - love.

Love in Times of Hopscotch is a courageous attempt to free love songs and poetry from sticky clichés. For yes, even in these peculiar times, love still blossoms - but how do you express it sincerely? How do you avoid the pitfalls of chamois-sweet string instruments and predictable verses? How do you give words to that creamy feeling in your chest that suddenly catches fire?
Kruidkoek consists of four exceptionally talented jazz musicians who had enough of predictable patterns. For ten years they have been touring places from Cairo to Middelburg, from the Parade to the flower parade in Tiel with their idiosyncratic music. Joost Oomen, one of Holland's most talked-about young poets, previously brought Alle dichters hebben gouden helikopters to the theater-a performance in which he explained poetry to the prime minister in his own unique way.
