Tre Donne
Italy, late 16th century. In the courts, the arts flourish as never before. Architects, artists and musicians are employed to glorify the nobility. Men and boys sing the most beautiful music. In Ferrara, at the court of Count Alfonso d'Este, it was no different. But there was also a different sound: secretly echoing the enchanting voices of three virtuoso singers, Tre Donne di Ferrara. Their talent did not remain hidden for long. Their virtuosity attracted attention and inspired great composers to create masterpieces. As feminists avant la lettre, these women effortlessly conquered the civilised worlds on 8 March also the Studio. Tre Donne is a theatrical concert merging contemporary texts and age-old music. Three singers (Jennifer van der Hart, Wendy Roobol and Janneke Stoute) give voice to the women of then and now.
