Looking at craters on the moon (Thursday)

During two winter evenings, Spoorpark will be transformed into a special place where you can experience the moon up close.

Discover the moon up close

In collaboration with the WEGA astronomy association, we invite you to discover up close how impressive the surface of the moon looks. During these evenings, you will delve into the world of lunar craters. A member of WEGA will give an accessible presentation about the moon and the use of telescopes. Afterwards, you will look up at the sky yourself, and the members of WEGA will guide you in observing the craters through a telescope.

Why look at the moon right now?

On 28 and 29 January, the moon will be almost full, making these evenings ideal for viewing craters. The slanting sunlight creates long shadows, making differences in height extra clear. The edges of craters, deep impact sites and even central peaks are sharply visible and more clearly discernible than during a full moon.
