Gallery ‘The Waverly’ is a poignant and often comic play about the final years of a warm-hearted, chatty grandmother (Anne Wil Blankers), who runs her small art gallery despite her battle with Alzheimer's. The story is about her attempt to maintain her independence and the impact of her illness on her family, especially her daughter (Lies Visschedijk) and grandson (Daniel Cornelissen). Through his eyes, we see the confusion and alienation, but also the strength and optimism of his grandmother. The play is more than a story about loss and memories; it highlights the humour, perseverance and connection within a family in crisis. ‘The Waverly’ gallery shows in a heartbreaking yet hilarious way how a family balances between teetering and clinging to each other.
