Workshop Giving Color to History
The colors of Tilburg textiles are connected to its colonial past. We will work with historical dye recipes and bluewood. While dyeing, we will discuss the origin of dyes, the conditions in which they were extracted and how all of this is connected to colonial history.
The colors of Tilburg textiles are connected to its colonial past. We will work with historical dye recipes and bluewood. While dyeing, we will discuss the origin of dyes, the conditions in which they were extracted and how all of this is connected to colonial history.
The afternoon will begin with an introduction by Jantiene van Elk about historical dye recipes, after which participants will get to work themselves and engage in group discussions about textiles, dyes and heritage. The workshop will take place at the TextielMuseum in Tilburg on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m.
