A unique country estate in the woods

Inn ‘In den Bockenreyder’ is beautifully located on the estate ‘De Utrecht’, near the fens ‘de Flaes’ and ‘t Goor’. The wooded surroundings lend themselves perfectly to cycling, walking or horse riding, provided you bring a horse. This authentic little pub, with a large terrace and a cosy fireplace, still has a sandy floor as was customary in the old days.

A piece of regional history

The name ‘In den Bockenreyder’ refers to a piece of regional history. Bokrijders were notorious figures of the past, seen as ghostly criminals. According to stories, they roamed the moors at night on bucks, plundering. Because they struck at great distances and moved at lightning speed, it was believed that the devil gave them the power to travel through the air on bucks. Many details about this legend remain a mystery to this day.
