Bienvenue à NOIR. Not only the name of this café but also the atmosphere breathes France. Since the beginning of 1977, everyone can come here for a delicious lunch and drinks. The menu is full of sweet treats from the patisserie, delicious coffees, wines, and of course the real NOIR Tosti Sauce.
If you walk down Nieuwlandstraat, look for an atmospheric terrace and you will find NOIR. A lovely place for lunch or drinks. Time for Ticket to Tilburg to have a drink with owners Kimm and Sophie.
Beautiful old building, what is the story of NOIR?
Sophie: "From the very beginning in 1977, Café Noir was a busy affair. The French-looking café, founded by Huib Luijten, attracted a wide audience even then. From truant students and punks to entrepreneurs and lawyers. In 2018, Kimm and I took over and transformed it into lunch & drinks bar NOIR. This welcoming place exudes the tranquility of yesteryear, where everyone still feels at home."
What makes NOIR unique?
Kimm: "Of course the well-known NOIR Tosti Sauce and the variety of borrel bites. In addition, we would like to surprise you with our new lunch dishes, appetizers and bites with a great cup of coffee or a fantastic glass of wine."
What do people come to NOIR for?
Sophie: "We try to bring the living room feel to a very large group. So pampering our guests is important to us."
What is typically Tilburg about your business?
Kimm: "NOIR is a household name for a lot of people from Tilburg. Because of everything that happened here. And when you walk through our store you still feel that history and that nostalgic atmosphere."
Opening hours and reservations
NOIR is open Wednesday through Saturday from 14:00 to 00:00 and Sunday from 12:00 to 21:00. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Reservations are possible for groups of 20 people or more, ideal for drinks, parties or other special occasions.
