They are back: the monologues! Each evening, three actresses present ten honest, raw and moving stories about the less pronounced sides of motherhood. About the doubts, the frustrations, the taboos. About the thoughts you have, but never express out loud. That you love your child dearly, but sometimes find motherhood hard. That you had hoped for a different child than the one you got. That you feel insecure, or furious - and don't share it for fear of being the only one.
Recognition and acknowledgement
There is often the idea that a “real” woman is also a mother. That there is something like a natural maternal instinct - that you automatically know that you want children and how to take care of them. But is that image actually true? 'De Moedermonologen' is an evening in which, with a lot of humor, we make room for doubt, honesty and everything in between. Because being a mother - or not - is never self-evident. An evening full of recognition and acknowledgement. For mothers, non-mothers, fathers and everyone who recognizes themselves somewhere in this story.
