From September 5 till September 13, the center of Tilburg will be transformed into one large open-air gallery. During Illustratie, the city will be filled with the most beautiful illustrations by local artists, accessible to everyone free of charge!

Illustrada 2026

Following a successful edition in 2025, PLAYGROUNDS ILLUSTRADA returns to Tilburg. From 5 to 13 September 2026, the city will once again be transformed into a large-scale open-air event centred around illustration, graphic art and community engagement. With work by local and international artists on the streets, in shop windows in the city centre and in the public Spoorpark, Illustrada demonstrates how visual culture literally sets the city in motion. In response to AI, Illustrada is bringing human creativity back onto the streets this year. Illustrators are increasingly opting for raw sketch lines, analogue techniques and personal signatures as a reaction to the uniform visual language of algorithms.

The 2026 edition will once again feature a towering illustration pavilion. This year, the pavilion in Spoorpark will serve as a central meeting place and a creative hub for other cultural and social initiatives taking place in the city at the same time, such as Festival Circolo and the Just Move Festival. This makes the pavilion not only a stage for illustration, but also a unifying space where different forms of creativity, performance and movement come together. Playgrounds Illustrada is free to enter and suitable for all ages.
