The female perspective on Lolita
How does a young woman discover her sexuality? And who is allowed to talk about it? Director Silke van Kamp is fascinated by Nabokov's scandalous 1955 novel Lolita, in which a young woman is deprived of her journey of discovery into sexual fantasies and desires.
For decades, Lolita has been portrayed as a romanticised sex object, and countless versions of her story have been published. After 70 years, Silke radically turns Nabokov's literary classic inside out and reshapes the story from a female perspective in F*CK LOLITA. Lolita steps out of the cage of being a sex object and reclaims her story and her body. Not as a victim of abuse, but as someone who fights her way out of the grip of the male perspective.
