How do you remain hopeful in an environment that does not accept that people of color have equal rights? Five performers search for their identities and relationships to each other. What does it mean to be father and son? Which traumas do you pass on and which do you let go of?

How do you remain hopeful in an environment that does not accept that people of color have equal rights? Five performers search for their identities and relationships to each other. What does it mean to be father and son? Which traumas do you pass on and which do you let go?

How do you form your own vision and values as a son with a father who grew up in a complex world in which he could not fully be himself? Dalton Jansen inspired the performance on the story of his own father, who came to the Netherlands as a young Curaçao immigrant in the 1990s and raised his son from the ideas of the Rastafari.

With the performance, Jansen hopes to dismantle stereotypes. Being Rastafari means more than just dreadlocks, cannabis and reggae. It is a lifestyle of peace, love and harmony. Rastas feel a stronger connection to nature, the earth, the community and the spiritual. What can we learn from this in these times of polarization and individualism?
