Musicians Gregory Frateur, Nicolas Rombouts and Sjoerd Bruil (known from Dez Mona, Spook and Roosbeef, among others) improvise to music from the Memory Loss Collection, an impressive trilogy by choreographer Ann Van den Broek about loss and dementia.
The Memory Loss Concert is a contemporary improvisational concert. The result is a stand-alone concert that unfolds on the spot into a raw, comforting and at the same time confrontational composition. The musicians have been making music together for years. All three played in the Belgian band Dez Mona and perform in various formations and projects. They are also regularly involved in the work of choreographer Ann Van den Broek. So too with the Memory Collection from which this concert arose.
In the Memory Loss Concert, Gregory Frateur, Nicolas Rombouts and Sjoerd Bruil string together three pieces of music from the performances Blueprint on Memory (2018), Zooming in on Loss (2019) and Memory on Loss (2019). From the interplay between guitarist Sjoerd Bruil, Nicolas Rombouts (synth and base) and singer Gregory Frateur, with his exceptional range and distinctive voice, a monumental alternative composition is created with a guarantee of goosebumps.
