The age-old myth of the Vilja previously inspired the famous ballet Giselle, and is now also at the heart of Le Villi. Especially for this production, Karmit Fadael composed the enchanting Silenzio, a musical prelude in which the dark forest symbolises getting lost in life.
Anna and Roberto are celebrating their engagement. But when he has to travel to collect an inheritance, she still calls after him: ‘Don't forget me!’ Winter comes. Anna waits, in vain. She dies of a broken heart. When Roberto returns, seduced and ignorant of her death, her ghost appears. Anna has become a Villi and she is determined to make him pay. Until death follows.
