Tangible Heritage - April 3, 2025

CollectieStadsmuseum Tilburg Fraters van Tilburg

Tilburg's textile past is deeply intertwined with its colonial past. But how does that work through today? Many carry tangible and intangible heritage with them - from batik and kotomisi to personal objects and family stories.

In conversation about Tilburg textiles, the colonial past and family stories

This program provides a platform to share these stories and connect them to broader heritage history. Experts such as Jantiene van Elk of the TextielMuseum and fashion historian Laurindo Andrea will show how textiles, identity and history come together. After the presentations, we will discuss in small groups heritage conservation, fashion as cultural expression and the transmission of traditions.

Do you have a (textile) object with a story? Share it in five minutes and have it recorded for the website Het Geheugen van Tilburg. The meeting will take place in
MFA de Poorten (Hasseltstraat) on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 19:00 to 21:00.
