This former convent was occupied by French Trappist nuns in 1903, who named the house *Notre Dame du Perpétuel Secours* (Our Lady of Perpetual Assistance).

In 1912, the sisters returned to France. During World War I, it housed novices of the Sacred Heart Fathers, who had fled from Belgium. Later, the building came into the hands of manufacturer Van den Bergh, who renamed it De Rendierhoeve (The Reindeer Farm), possibly inspired by the reindeer that featured on the labels of the advertising material for his AaBe blankets.
