At 16 hectares, it is one of the largest fens in the Oisterwijk woods.
A pond with a rich past
In the early 19th century, the fen became the property of Tilburg textile manufacturers, who used it for washing wool. On the surrounding hills at the time were a gallows and a fulling mill, a wind-powered industrial mill used to follow, or post-process, wool.
