Right in the centre of our city you will find Freedom Park. This name lends itself to the six war memorials surrounding the city's liberation, immortalised here. Freedom Park is one of the (0)13 Lucky Places.
Although the park is small in size, its value to Tilburg and its residents is great. The monument to the 15th Scottish Division reminds Tilburg residents of the division's part in the liberation of the city on 27 October 1944. The Holocaust Memorial was erected in memory of 172 Tilburg victims of the Holocaust. The 10 May bombing memorial commemorates the day a bomb came down in Noordstraat, killing 14 people, including six children. The memorial boulder is a monument commemorating resistance fighter Coba Pulskens. The monument to the Royal Dutch Brigade "Prinses Irene" reminds Tilburg residents of the brigade's part in the liberation of the city on 27 October 1944. It gave shelter to Jews, Allied pilots and members of resistance groups during the war. Finally, the Indië monument commemorates 60 inhabitants of Tilburg who died during the disarmament of the Dutch East Indies.
