Huis ter Heide estate is not far from Tilburg, yet here it is an oasis of tranquility. You can go for lovely walks in this wetland bird paradise. Here you admire the noisy frogs and colorful dragonflies.

Boardwalk

In this area, coniferous and deciduous forests alternate with open fields and vast fens. As a hiker, you can choose to walk across the Leikeven via a plank path. From here you get a unique view of the special environment and the rare plants in the area. In other words, this walkway always hits the mark.

Carnivorous plants

Have you ever seen a carnivorous plant? The little sundew grows at fens in this area! You don't have to worry about your bottom line, this little green eats only small insects.

Bird spotting

From the lookout points at the Leikeven you can search for waterfowl such as shelducks, egrets, and waders. In the forest, you can regularly hear the laughter of the green woodpecker and see buzzards and sparrowhawks searching for their prey. And if you look closely, you may see a bird watcher sitting in one of the observation towers.

The spot

The nicest spot in this hiking area is right at the center of the deck trail that crosses the Leikeven. Stop here for a moment and take in the scenery.
