In the centre of Tilburg, in the middle of the city forum, stands the Palace of King William II. Once built by the king, it is now used by the municipality as the Town Hall Palace.

A famous eyecatcher

The Palace-Town Hall in Tilburg stands prominently on the Stadsforum and is a well-known landmark in the heart of the city. King William II commissioned its construction in 1847 and laid the first stone himself. The building was intended to be his residence, but it never came to that: the king died in 1849, a few weeks before completion. As a result, he never lived in the palace himself, although his story remains inextricably linked to the monument.

Cultural heritage

Today, the Palace-Town Hall is used by the municipality. Many weddings take place there. The palace is not only a monument, but also a place interwoven with personal stories and the identity of the city.
