Van Gogh NP hiking route - 10 miles

Walkers follow in Van Gogh's footsteps with the new walking route in Tilburg and discover the area where the young Vincent received drawing lessons. The route is the fourth in a series of five walks developed by VisitBrabant Routebureau on behalf of Van Gogh National Park.

Among other things, the route takes visitors along the Korvelse Waterloop and through a typical 19th-century Brabant landscape with streams, fields and fens. The path winds through the Schaapsven past the banks of the Galgeven past the De Rendierhoeve, a former neo-Gothic monastery from 1903 that was home to French Trappist nuns more than a hundred years ago. Abbey Onze Lieve Vrouw van Koningshoeven is also on the route; this is where monks still brew La Trappe. From Uitkijktoren De Nieuwe Herdgang, walkers can see how nature is intertwined with the city in Landschapspark Moerenburg-Koningshoeven.

The walking route has been set out over the hiking junction system in Brabant and can be recognised by the little shields labelled ‘Van Gogh National Park’, affixed to the familiar junction posts. Click

The Red Lace

The people of Tilburg, who have traditionally looked out for each other, helped each other and entertained each other. The fair has been in town for over 450 years!

Tilburg, where the village centres grew together and from this connection the city was born. The connection is never far away, which is why we would like to connect the city centre and its atmospheric areas by means of ‘ the Red Thread’.

The Red Thread is a physical, visible red line of 13 km that connects all of Tilburg's atmospheric areas, showing many highlights. From art in public spaces, all the museums, monuments, parks, restaurants and hotels, B&Bs.

The Red Thread picks up on our Textile past.
It was inspired by the French city of Nantes. They were abandoned by the shipping industry in the late 1970s. That shifted 60 km away towards the sea. The decision was immediately made at the time to invest heavily in Art and in innovation. Millions of tourists now visit Nantes

De Rode Draad

The Wallmuseum

Hall of Fame-1

Cityforest 013

A vast nature reserve looms within cycling distance of the city centre. From dry heathland to swampy and splashy stream valleys, rich deciduous forests and monumental estates. Stadsbos013 has it all.

Stadsbos013

consists of a number of unique natural areas. Many of these parks were designed by famous landscape architects. And you notice it. There is a wealth of extraordinary nature as well as buildings of all times and all styles. Nature, romance, culture, sports and games, education, art and entrepreneurship naturally come together here. Nice to know: Stadsbos013 is the source of pure drinking water for the city.

Building forest huts, splashing pools and wobble trees. The Play Forest challenges children to climb and clamber around. Walk the elf or giant path and search for magical creatures. Fun for kids as well as parents because the little ones will be tucked up in the evening and in bed nice and early.

In this case, ‘the spot’ is not a spot but part of a walking route. Walkers taking the Reeshof route feast their eyes. Modern buildings and nature alternate. Scottish Highlanders graze peacefully in between. The route follows the Reeshofdijk, a swamp more than a century ago. Be surprised by beautiful moraines of windblown sand. Tip: lace up your shoes after the walk.
