In Hack the Heritage, designer Jos Klarenbeek, in collaboration with the TextielMuseum, explores how historical textile and industrial heritage can be repurposed with the help of electronics and digitization.

The Project Space houses two historic machines that have been ‘hacked’ with electronic modules and open-source software, enabling them to function again in a modern, digital context. In addition, old weaving books from the Tilburg textile school are being digitized and researched for applications with the updated machines. The project thus offers a new perspective on traditional textile craftsmanship and industrial heritage collections.
