Sonja

Sonja is a free interpretation of Sonja Barend's book, life and TV career. The show shows how a hidden war past can mark a life and underlines the importance of asking questions, even when answers fail to materialise. Live on television, Sonja begins her interview, sharp and curious. At the talk show table, she dares to ask everything, but at home she remains silent. The gruesome fate of her Jewish father during the war is a conversation that never seems possible to have with her mother and yet it has to happen. Angela Schijf, Stefan de Walle and Chava voor in ‘t Holt are on stage together for the first time in Sonja. With this, director Servé Hermans returns to major theatres after success with Dagboek van een Herdershond and Het was Zondag in het Zuiden.
