Following the huge success of De Ongeplukte Zusters van Almere County, the creators return with a new, hilarious musical comedy: De Onverwoeste Zusters van Hoogzand-Sappemeer, loosely inspired by the turbulent lives of the Brontë sisters.

A witty look at the Brontë sisters

In this performance, you will meet Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë, three passionate sisters who continue to fight for recognition even in the afterlife. Against the backdrop of the rugged Yorkshire moors around 1847, they, along with their perpetually drunk brother and absent father, look back on a life full of illness, jealousy, passion and literary ambition. Their brilliant work was written under male pseudonyms at a time when female writers were hardly taken seriously. The wandering spirit of Heathcliff watches over their story like a shadow.

Humour, music and a special experience

With a strong cast consisting of Ilse Warringa, Rop Verheijen, Eva van Gessel, Leopold Witte and Margôt Ros, it promises to be a humorous and musical evening. The poems of the Brontë sisters have been set to music by Bart Rijnink, giving the performance an extra poetic layer. The performance is an ode to sisterly love, artistic freedom and the eternal longing for success – even after death. By reliving their past, the sisters learn to reconcile themselves with their lives and with each other, leaving plenty of room for humour.
