The TextielMuseum is a dynamic and creative museum in operation, located in a former textile factory in Tilburg. It is the only place in the world (!) where design, art, fashion, heritage and textile innovation come together.

Tilburg has a rich history with textiles, but TextielMuseum also dares to look to the future. Anything but a dusty intention there, then. Time to take a look around the museum and knit some socks.

What do people come to the TextielMuseum for?

“People come here for the combination of inspiring exhibitions, educational programs and the specialized TextielLab for textile making and innovation. The TextileLab often makes a big impression.”

What is the TextielLab?

“The TextielLab is the beating heart of the museum. Here, as a visitor, you look over the shoulders of international artists and designers. Together with our technical experts, they explore the endless possibilities of textiles and our visitors experience it from the front row. You can also get to work with textiles yourself here in the Design Studio.”

What is typically Tilburg about the museum?

“The TextielMuseum is housed in one of Tilburg's most important monumental textile factories. It is very fitting that this unique heritage has been revived with the TextielMuseum. In the TextielLab today, the most innovative works of art, fashion collections, or design objects are created. By designers and artists such as Sigrid Calon, Viktor&Rolf or Rem Koolhaas. The TextielMuseum uniquely reflects our identity of Tilburg as a textile city and as a city of makers. Past, present, and future.”
